Nutrition
At Hallam Early Learning professional cooks are on staff daily to prepare fresh nutritious meals for the children.
Our Centre promotes healthy lifestyles, good nutrition and the wellbeing of all the Children, Educators, Staff and Families using the service.
A pre-planned menu is displayed on the kitchen wall, based on a 4- week rotation, with recipes being varied every 3 months, to account for seasonal changes.
The daily routine includes:
Breakfast - being provided for children arriving before 8:00am.
Morning Tea – which includes fresh seasonal fruit and milk.
Lunch – which is balanced and nutritious.
Afternoon Tea – which includes healthy snacks.
Options are provided for those with specific dietary requirements, food allergies or restrictions relating to specific cultural/religious practices. Halal food is also provided at Hallam Early Learning Centre.
Educators encourage a relaxed atmosphere at meal times, using the time spent at the lunch table to chat with children and discuss the role food plays in their lives.
Fresh water is always available for the children. To facilitate this, Parents are asked to supply a water bottle that can be kept at the centre. All water bottles are kept in a basket in your child’s room, to encourage independence and a continuous supply of water.
